The British former boxing world champion died by suicide, authorities confirmed at a South Manchester coroner’s court hearing on Thursday, Oct. 16, according to the BBC and ESPN. Hatton's manager Paul Speak found him “unresponsive” at his home in Hyde, England on Sunday, Sept. 14, the court heard during a 10-minute-long inquest. Hatton was last seen by family members two days earlier, and he seemed “well,” the BBC reported. Speak had arrived at Hatton’s house to take him to the airport in advance of a scheduled boxing match in Dubai. He took a break for three years after losing in a match against Manny Pacquiao. He returned to the ring briefly in 2012 before announcing his retirement, Earlier this year, the boxer announced that he was coming out of retirement to compete against Eisa Al Dah on December 2 in Dubai. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and boxers Tyson and Tommy Fury were among the mourners.
