Derek brought up the reason why he didn't consider taking a break from retirement to become a Bengali.
Cincinato leads the Bears to a new series of championships.
After Jake Browning failed to perform at quarterback while filling in for the injured Joe Burrow, the Bengals were forced to trade veteran signal caller Joe Flacco.
However, one notable option failed behind the scenes: Derek Carr.
The former Saints linebacker, who surprisingly retired last offseason, was among the players the Bengals were trying to sign in recent weeks, Derek's brother David Kerr revealed.
"I can neither confirm nor deny," David said with a smile in an interview with local news channel ABC.
But the reason he didn't throw a pass for Ja'Marr to chase Jase and Higgins right now has nothing to do with salary.
That's the presence of Burrow, who is out with a toe injury that's expected to sideline him in December.
"Derek would love to be in a situation where it's obviously a team that really needs someone to come in and take them over (long term)," David said."There's a feeling that Joe Burrow might come back at some point this year - at least try to come back. I don't know that Derek would feel good if he was put in a situation where the quarterback got hurt and he was pushing them all the way, making plays come and then having to sit on the sideline."
David added that his brother is very happy in retirement, he can "when he wants", but the news is not ready to take into account the conditions of Derek's retirement.
"I think the scenario, the way it's played out historically, and obviously, God forbid, you don't want a quarterback to fail on a contending team, but these things happen, so Derek will definitely be ready if that situation happens," David said.

The first is that Derek is long-term, and it has been reported that he wants another shoulder operation in 2025.
Derek, 34, a four-time Pro Bowler, played very well for the Saints last season in limited action and earned rave reviews during his early-season stint as an NFL analyst on Netflix.
Derek threw for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions last season for the Saints and certainly looms as an upgrade over most of the other options available if a team needs a quarterback.
It is likely that the Saints would need some form of compensation through trade to give up their rights.
