The Biggest Speakers in the NFL Free Agency Free Groups and the Changes They Can Make

The Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets and Washington Commanders all enter the offseason with significant cap space and the need to address key roster spots. That financial flexibility could allow each team to aggressively pursue upgrades in free agency as they try to reshape their rosters for the 2026 season.

- The Titans need to be active, and active early: The Titans enter the offseason with holes in the roster on both sides of the ball. However, their top priority in 2026 should be building a strong supporting cast around second-year quarterback Cam Ward.

- Raiders must have a plan: The Raiders are expected to select quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No.After struggling along the offensive line in 2025, asking a rookie quarterback to succeed without major improvements going forward would be a risky proposition.

NFL free agency is where the NFL's biggest spending begins, and cap space determines who gets in.

Teams with more financial flexibility are often market movers. With that in mind, here's a look at the franchises with the most cap space entering free agency and the moves they're willing to make.

The Titans entered the season with holes on the roster on both sides of the ball.Their top priority in 2026, however, is building a strong supporting cast around second-year quarterback Cam Ward. It's difficult to evaluate the former No. 1 overall pick's rookie season given the circumstances surrounding him, especially his inconsistent offensive play and lack of reliable weapons at wide receiver.

Fortunately for Tennessee, the potential solution may come within the division.Wide receiver Alec Pierce is the best free agent receiver available and comes off four productive seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. The Cincinnati product has established himself as one of the top threats in the league. In 2025, Pierce's 97.9 receiving grade on deep targets ranked 11th among 70 wide receivers, and his 12 deep receptions in the regular season tied for fifth in the league.

Ward showed promise as a freshman running the ball. He earned an 89.4 passer rating for his deep effort. Ranked 15th among defenders, pairing him with a proven vertical threat like Pierce could elevate Tennessee's passing attack and provide a higher platform for the young signal-caller's development.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are widely expected to select quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick, and their free agency strategy should revolve around that pick. After the offensive line's struggles in 2025, asking a rookie quarterback to succeed without making significant improvements beforehand would have been a risky proposition.Fortunately for Las Vegas, the team has the financial resources to significantly upgrade the unit.

The group should get an immediate boost with the return of left tackle Kolton Miller, who missed most of last season with an injury. However, the rest of the line still needs strengthening.Veteran linebacker Isaac Seumalo is the highest-rated free agent, and while the 32-year-old may not be a long-term solution, he remains one of the best pass-blockers at the position and could stabilize the cabin.

The Raiders should not stop there. The addition of Connor McGovern will further strengthen the group.Like Las Vegas' Jackson Powers-Johnson, McGovern offers the ability to play guard and center and was one of the more reliable pass-blocking centers last season. His 70.8 block rating in 2025 ranks 10th among centers.

With plenty of cap space, the Raiders shouldn't hesitate to target the offensive line multiple times in free agency.

South Los Angeles

The Rockets are the only teams on this list to make the playoffs each of the last two seasons. But both appearances ended in wild card ropes, and offensive tackles played a big role each time.Jim Harbaugh's staff has tried to strengthen the offensive line in recent years through both free agency and the draft, but the unit has still finished below average.

Injuries also played a major role in 2025. The Chargers have been without star offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt for several seasons, though both remain long-term building blocks. The biggest problem is the interior offensive line, which has been ranked among the weakest units in the league for several seasons. The group could be completely changed in 2026, with center Bradley Bozeman retiring, guard Sion Johnson expected to leave in free agency and guard Mickey Becton being released with just one year remaining on his contract.

One interesting option is center Tyler Linderbaum, who has spent his career thus far playing for Jim Harbaugh's brother John in Baltimore. The Chargers should have the Iowa product firmly in the mix, possibly the best offensive lineman available in free agency.Linderbaum was among the top five centers in the NFL in each of the last two seasons, and his 83.7 run blocking rating was fourth among centers in the class of 2025.

Signing Linderbaum would still leave Los Angeles with enough resources to address the defense. With cornerbacks Odafe Oweh and Khalil Mack both hitting free agency, the Chargers will likely need reinforcements at the position.Given their cap flexibility, they can even go after one of the best pass rushers available on the market.

Trey Hendrickson stands as the highest-rated free agent without a position. He has been ranked among the top 20 tight ends in each of the last three seasons. While Hendrickson will be 31 years old entering the 2026 season, the Chargers have already shown a willingness to rely on veterans, as evidenced by Mack's role in recent years.

New York Jets

At this point, there are very few positions on the Jets roster that wouldn't benefit from strengthening in free agency. That, combined with the cap space they currently have, makes New York a prime candidate to be among the most aggressive spenders once the market opens.

After placing the franchise tag on running back Brees Hall and trading defensive tackle Tevondre Sweat, running back and inside linebacker weren't a top priority. The Jets also appear to have a promising young duo on offense.Beyond that, however, upgrades can appear almost anywhere on the list.

For example, after fielding the NFL's weakest group of pass catchers in 2025, the Jets could be among the teams pursuing wide receiver Alec Pierce. At the same time, the pass rush must be addressed after the Jermaine Johnson trade.New York could turn to veterans like Trey Hendrickson or Khalil Mack as short-term solutions. If the Jets prefer a smaller option, former first-rounder Odafe Oweh could also make sense as a long-term addition.

For the Commanders, the offseason focus should be clear: defense, defense and more defense. The momentum is picking up after the release of cornerback Marshon Lattimore and the uncertainty surrounding the return of linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Washington has needs at all levels of the defense, but the secondary may be the most pressing issue. The Chiefs' projected starting corners finished the 2025 season 80th and 97th overall, while their safeties are 69th and 84th.

One intriguing safety option is Camren Curl, a player Washington knows well.Curl performed at a high level during his time with the Rams, finishing 2025 with a 77.8 overall grade, ranking 11th among defensive backs.A reunion could help stabilize the back end of the defense.

The Commanders could also consider Kansas City defensive end Bryan Cook and cornerback Jaylen Watson, both top free agents.Watson's 74.1 overall grade ranked 17th among corners in 2025, while Cook's 83.5 overall grade ranked fourth.
