It was a big day for Jeremiah Love and other Notre Dame NFL prospects
As the weekend wore on and the NFL Combine continued, we finally got to the support groups.We've seen combinations in the past that have had some of the best players sidelined and not running and/or testing, but both of Notre Dame's running backs are here to show why they are rated as the top two running backs in the draft.
Notre Dame's Jeremiah Love performs at the NFL Combine
It was a big day for Jeremiah Love and other Notre Dame NFL prospects.
Jeremiyah Love is considered by many to be the best player in the NFL regardless of position.He's almost guaranteed to be a top-10 pick, and he really doesn't have much to prove at the combine - but he still does it.What he "did" was put on a show that not only solidified his position in the top 10 but could even make it into the top 5.
If there was a question mark in Jeremiah's love, it was precisely the speed at which he moved.Sure - we all know he's fast in college football, but what about his 40th season?How fast are you in the NFL?Well... he did.With less room to touch, he was touched 4.37 times and 4.36 times.
After that, the field drills went as you would expect with an athlete of his caliber.Love seemed at every moment to be the complete package that had been talked about in the last weeks and months.
After all is done, Love feels good about herself, and is ready to celebrate.How can he celebrate?With what you sacrificed in the last months - a chocolate shake.
This is the fastest group of runners in combine history, and even though Love had the second-fastest rushing time this season, he looked every bit the future All-Pro.
Now comes the crazy part.Will the Arizona Cardinals or New York Giants take Love before the New Orleans Saints?Time will tell, and while a running back with a top 5 pick may seem like the wrong move for some teams, you can't go wrong with Love.
Price also came in strong in the next draft, but the No. 2 pick was off the board.When you watch Price on film, there's no question he should be the 2nd RB pick, but as always, people want 40x.
Jadarian didn't provide the wow factor like Love, but a 4.49 40-yard dash time is more than enough to show he has the speed to be a big-time player at the next level.
To be fair, as a pure runner, Price has better parts of the game than Love, and he's done very well in field training.
Price is said to be a late 1st rounder, otherwise he is a fast second runner.He might need a sub 4.4 40 for the first round, but again, his game tape alone shows he's worth it.
I don't know how he fared in field exercises, but Malachi Fields' forty years of time was troubling to a lot of people.Fields had a rating of 4.61 and talk of “not a first round pick” quickly spread to social media.There was talk of the Buffalo Bills taking him in the first round, but that was still up in the air.
Anyway… even if Fields falls to the second or third round, it's still a big jump from where he was before the Senior Bowl.He will be fine
