Oregon gave up its third win of the season this season with a repeat loss to the Putsz stimium against a ranked opponent on Saturday.
USC continues to drop its passing game on Saturday. But it was Oregon that proved to be against physically and mentally, taking everything that the Trojans have to give them 4277 wins that have a college license that is a high school.
USC's vaunted passing game was as advertised, with the Trojans completing five possessions of at least 24 yards and forcing several penalties on second-place UO.But Oregon's balance, depth and special teams were assets as the No. 7 Ducks took over in the second quarter and never let the No. 15 Trojans lead.
“It's clear their team is very explosive offensively,” Uo coach Dan Lands said."Lsuf, I think a lot of it comes down to physicality. Over 180 meters gives you physicality. It replaces physicality. Because you win the game."
The win keeps the Ducks (10-1, 7-1 Big Ten) in the hunt for a Dec. 19-20 title.would host the first round of the College Football Playoff. With a win at Washington and Ohio State's loss to Michigan next week, Oregon will return to the Big Ten Championship on Dec. 6.
Saturday's win was Oregon's third this season over a ranked opponent;the other two faced Pennsylvania and Iowa, neither of which were ranked this weekend. How would a win over USC affect the Ducks' resume in the eyes of the CFP selection committee? That remains to be seen when the rankings are updated on Tuesday.
"We played a good team and we played very good teams and all of a sudden they weren't available," they said.
The ducks got the job done Saturday despite the problems that may have affected other teams.Left Soccer is the world has done for the last week after the injury last week with the injury before the half of the Trojans.Throw in, it's down to the three best assistant coaches on Saturday.
But Oregon was dominant in the trenches as well, with Malik Benson making special teams plays and bursting for touchdowns.Although there are some times the UO high school would like to go back, the ducks also have two if I win the battle that day.
"At the end of the year, people tend to get hurt and get hurt, and that's just the game of football," said Moore, who followed his record-setting efficiency against Minnesota on Saturday, going 22-for-30 for 257 yards and two scores. The mentality of the next player is what takes place. We are doing a great job."
Saturday's game pitted two of the Big Ten's top three scorers against each other, so it was no surprise that it turned into a shootout early. The Trojans took the opening kickoff for a touchdown and became the first team to score a touchdown against the Ducks this season.
Oregon responded by driving for a score of its own.The Trojans led 7-0 over the entire 2:49 of the first quarter. They will never lead the rest of the way again.
After being stopped by the UO defense, Moore threw the first of two touchdowns on the day to tight end Kenyon Sadiq, who has helped make up for the lack of depth in the receiving corps since returning from injury earlier this month.USC tied it at 14-14 on the opening play of the second quarter, but after both defenders each forced a punt, the Ducks returned USC's punt 85 yards for a touchdown, with Benson showing off his speed as a journeyman.
"We haven't really been explosive on punt returns," Benson said."So we'll have something more to show the game plan to the teams against us. It's going to be hard for teams to beat us."
That made the score 21-14, and the Ducks would regain the lead before halftime. After driving to the 1-yard line, the UO offense mounted a personnel drive that featured defensive ends Pierre Alexander and A'Mowry Washington and linebacker Bryce Botcher.
"The courtyard was short, they called my number and the front line was well closed," Boettchch said. It's really cool.
Twice in the second half, USC backed out in writing. The Ducks responded twice, first with Sadiq's second celebration of the day in the third quarter, then Noah Whittington drove for a touchdown in the fourth.Whittington finished the day with 104 yards, behind a line that included a new Fox Cup left tackle and Charlie Pickard up the middle following Laloulu's injury.
For seniors like Benson, Whittington, Pickard and Boettcher, Autzen could have one more game to play this season, should the Ducks earn the right to host a playoff matchup. But Saturday was officially senior day, and they made it a day they'll never forget.
“I think we all remember playing, especially the last time we played in a ballpark,” Lanning said."And I told our guys, if we keep doing our job, we'll have added another opportunity to play here again. We all wanted to put it on the line for our seniors today so that those guys can have that moment, enjoy that moment. And the guys did that."
