Red Wings Kosa, Rangers Perreault among top NHL prospects named to 2026 AHL All-Star Game
The NHL may be skipping the All-Star Game this season due to the Winter Olympics in Cortina, Milan, but that doesn't mean hockey fans are completely starved for All-Star action.
On Thursday, the AHL announced the rosters for its All-Star Classic, scheduled for February 10 and 11 in Rockford, Illinois.
The event will feature AHL leaders and exciting NHL prospects.Similar to the All-Star NHL celebrations, all four sections of the AHL will have a team of 10 skates and two goals.On February 11, four teams will compete in a 3-ar-3-3-robin tournament, each lasting eight minutes.Both teams with the best round-robin scores will meet in a 3-on-3 final to set the champion all stars.
The Atlantic Division is represented by exciting young players such as Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Denver Barkey, who played 11 games for the Philadelphia Flyers this season, and Hartford Wolf Pack forward Gabe Perreault, who played 15 games for the New York Rangers.
North Division stars include Syracuse Crunch forward and Tampa Bay Lightning top prospect Connor Gickey, along with Rochester Americans forward and Buffalo Sabers 2024 first-round pick Konsta Helenius.
The Central Division team features Grand Rapids Griffins goaltender and Detroit Red Wings prospect Sebastian Cusa, as well as Chicago Wolves forward and Carolina Hurricanes 2023 first-round pick Bradley Nadeau.
The Pacific Division team will feature former Calgary Wranglers and Calgary Flames 2024 first round pick Matvey Gridin, Tuscan Roadrunners defenseman and Utah Mammoth top prospect Dmitry Simashev.
The All-Star festivities will also include the Skills Challenge, which will be held on February 10, as well as the AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony, which will take place on February 11.
