Kevin O'Connell explains why the Vikings didn't hurt Carson Wentz earlier in the loss

Trouble lost Thursday night's game 37-10 at the hands of the authorities.And although quarterback Carson Adz entered the bye week with a shoulder injury, jmizang j.j.McCarthy is healthy, elected to start.eight;

Why are the Vikings still sticking with Wentz even though he's injured?

It is the same as the question in all the mind as well as all the person and the vikings and adults.Voings Coach Kevin O'connell after the game.

"We continued to check in [with Wentz]," O'Connell told reporters."Maybe Max [Brossmer] is getting ready to go." Tyler [Vice President of Player Health and Performance Tyler Williams] came up to me a lot tonight, but every time he seemed to let me know. Carson was in pain. He obviously took a few hits - but he was able to - I asked him a couple of times where he was and he said he wanted to go forever.

“He seemed hurt there a couple of times.”

Did Wentz feel that his game was compromised by the injury?

Wentz, who at one point showed frustration with how the night unfolded when Prime Video cameras caught him banging his helmet on the sideline, was adamant that his play was not affected by the injury.

"I don't think so," Wentz said."I don't think throwing wise. That's really why I came in confident. I felt like I could do my job. I thought I could throw the ball. Fortunately, you don't need your left shoulder as far as throwing the ball. So mechanically, throwing wise, I felt like that was all I could do."

And Wentz, seemingly in lockstep with O'Connell, never felt he needed to exit the game.

Should Oconnell consider reintroducing Backup Max Brosmer into the game?

Brosmer, an undrafted rookie, entered the game in the fourth quarter with the result decided.But did he think about going from an injured atji to a healthy Brosmon more than he did?

"Yes we did," O'Connell said."Carson is an experienced player. He understood some of our situations tonight. I think it's tough to ask a rookie to go out for his first show and he's had a little bit of a fight for the group.

"I think about it at different times in the game, but at the same time, the confidence we see in Max and that goes against the level of characterization."

Who will start at QB for the Vikings in Week 9?

O'Connell told reporters, "...if J.J. is healthy, J.J. will play."

McCarthy, the Vikings' 2024 first-round pick, did not play in Week 2 due to a high ankle sprain.However, it looks like he will have a chance to return to the field against the Lions in Week 9.
