Giants coach Brian Daboll was fired after the team blew another double-digit lead Sunday in Chicago.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - The New York Giants fired coach Brian Daboll on Monday after the team blew another double-digit lead Sunday in Chicago.

"In recent years it has not been short, and we have not achieved the truth of the election," said "John Co-Mara Mara and Steve Tisch."

Associate head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as the Giants' interim coach.Kafka has been a finalist for several head coaching positions over the past two years.

Joe Schoen will remain the team's general manager and lead the search for the next coach.

“We feel that Joe has assembled a good young core of talent and we look forward to his development,” said Mara."Unfortunately, the results of the past three years have not been what we all wanted. We take full responsibility for these results and look forward to the success our fans expect."

Tisch added: "These are difficult decisions and John and I don't take them lightly, but we feel this is the right thing to do at this time and will allow us to move forward."

There are no other changes to the coaching staff at this time, sources told ESPN.

The Giants (2-8) won just two of their first 10 games for the third straight year. They are 11-33 since the start of the 2023 season.

Daboll was asked on Sunday if he was worried about his job because of the team's record.

"I just focus on those guys in the locker room," he said.

Rookie Jackson Dart suffered a concussion in the Giants' 24-20 loss to the Bears, marking the fourth time Dart has been assessed for a concussion this year, including last season.

Daboll won the 2022 Coach of the Year honor in his first season with the Giants as they surprisingly finished 9-7-1 and won a playoff game in Minnesota.Since then it has all fallen apart, although Daboll was considered the driving force behind Dart's preparations. The first-round pick had 17 total touchdowns in his first seven starts.

But the Giants are still winless and have an unprecedented lead this season.New York has led by double digits in four road games that have ended in defeat.

Sunday's loss was just the second time the team scored at least 10 points in at least 10 minutes.

Daboll had a 20-40-1 record as the Giants' head coach. His .336 hitting percentage put him behind Ben McAdoo and Ray Perkins.

The Magic coach endured a difficult four years with the Giants filled with incidents that included a nasty split with defensive coordinator Wink Martindale after the 2023 season and a $100,000 fine earlier this year for going near a medical blue screen while Dart was being evaluated for a concussion.

At some point, Schoen had to take a look at the coaching staff to evaluate the coaches' communication.Daboll also suffered a blow to former quarterback Daniel Jones and replaced his staff well over the past two years.

Daboll and Skochly went 3-14 last season, but ultimately found themselves on the hot seat after Marka's season, when he expected a better result.

"I know how many games we've had and obviously this result is what we believe they have."

Daboll was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills after a four-year stint where he oversaw the development of quarterback Josh Allen.Daboll also spent most of his career as an assistant under Bill Belichick in New England.

Bills coach Sean McDermott was asked Monday if there was any consideration of contacting Daboll about returning to the Buffalo team.

"It is not being considered at this time," he said.
