The Women's Slalom World Cup returns to Kranjska Gora as the Olympic Games heat up
As the Olympic season enters a crucial phase, the Women's Giant Slalom World Cup heads to Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The race on Saturday 3rd January is the sixth GS of the 2025-26 campaign and, while opportunities remain on the calendar, the margin of performance across the field is rapidly shrinking.
In particular, Austrian star Katharina Liensberger will miss Kranjska Gora after suffering a knee injury during training on Friday. Her absence eliminates a proven contender as results increasingly shape seeding, momentum and the narrow road to Cortina.

Why Kranjska Gora is important
Kranjska will not decide the white season, but will continue to narrow the path forward. With only a handful of giant slalom races remaining before the Olympic break, every achievement is magnified.Seed, momentum and opportunity are now closely linked.
In an Olympic year, every clean ride counts β and every mistake costs more than it did just a few weeks ago.
Nils Coberger (NZL) set the first run, while Daniele Simoncelli (ITA) set the second run.
