In this week's Q&A ahead of Week 11's clash of divisional powers, we chatted with Field Gulls' John Gilbert about bottling JSN, Seattle's turnaround, and more.
Q - Seattle was 4-5 after a 26-20 overtime loss to the Rams in Week 9 last season.Since then, the Hawks are 13-4.To what do you attribute the turnaround in the Emerald City?
A - 2024 The second half of the season has gathered and the schedule has become easier.
The roster then improved significantly during the offseason.Instead of giving up a lot of cap space to veterans on one-year band-aid contracts, the front office went out and spent on 30-plus veterans who were able to sign with below-market age and injury history.These two have remained relatively healthy and have provided enough of a spark that, when combined with the rest of the roster in Mike McDonald's system, is a recipe for success.
Q- The Sam Darnold Jackson Smith-Njigba connection has been absolutely lethal in the first half of the year.How in the world do the rams try to slow them down?
A - One of the things that JSN has been waiting for to deploy this season is stacking the box defense and using heavy manpower to try and slow down the sea game.This is guarded by a weak ground attack, while those who pass the match have created a claimant left and right.
An opponent could simply ignore Seattle's rushing attack and slow down the nickel and dime JSN all game, but that hasn't happened yet.

A - The fronts of the Seattle defense are very dangerous Seattle defense, Leonard Williams, Demarcus Lawphy, Bron Murphy, Uchenna Nwosu and others,
Figuring out who really rushes on any given play will be Stafford's first challenge, then getting the ball out quickly enough to beat the rush will be his second.
Of the quarterbacks the Seahawks have faced this season, Stafford arguably has the best opportunity to repeat the Week 5 performance of Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.
O - The Seahawks and Rams have one of the NFL's best point differentials and are facing off against the NFC West leader.What are your predictions for this game?
A - One of the running jokes in Seagull Field is that the Seahawks always lose when I predict them to win, and they win when I expect them to lose.
Picking the Rams 23-20 gives me a Seattle win.
