Go to top-50 free agent: Romeo Doubs
Romeo Dubs, VR
Doubs signed Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler to four-year contracts worth up to $80 million.
What it means: The 6-foot-2, 201-pound Dubs represents a big swing in free agency to give Patriots QB Drake Maye a top weapon, which would rule out a trade for Eagles WR A.J.Brown.The 25-year-old Doubs finished the season with 55 total catches for 724 yards and six TDs for the Green Bay Packers.
Dobbs joins Keyshawn Botha, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, Demario Douglas and Afton Chism III on the depth chart. He excelled as a possession receiver, showing up on third downs and in the red zone.Dobbs was suspended by the Packers for one game in the 2024 season -- when he missed two days of practice and meetings -- something the Patriots are sure to look into as they consider how to fit into their team culture.
Elijah Vera-Tucker, g
Sources told Adam Schefter that Vera-Tucker has agreed a $ 42 million three-year deal with the Patriots.
What does this mean? After the Patriots agreed to trade starting center Garrett Bradbury to the Bears for a 2027 fifth-round pick, it opened the door to move Jared Wilson from left guard to center, and left guard moved up the team's need list.Enter Vera-Tucker.The Patriots are betting on his health to slot him between Will Campbell at left tackle and Wilson under center, anchoring the defense in front of defensive end Drake Maye. The team still has fourth-year player Ben Brown as its top backup inside linebacker, and could also use one of its 11 draft picks at that position to continue adding depth and competition, which was one of the team's offseason goals.
dre mont jones, edge
According to NFL Network, the Patriots have agreed to a three-year, $39.5 million contract with Jones.
What it means: One offseason priority was addressing the edge and pass rush, and Jones (6-foot-1, 281 pounds) is a step in that direction. The Patriots saw him twice last season — first as a Titan and later as a Raven — and Jones sacked quarterback Drake Maye in each game.
Jones, 29, is entering his eighth NFL season. He played at Ohio State and was drafted by the Broncos in the third round of the 2019 draft. His addition raises the question of whether the Patriots will also bring back edge rusher Klavon Chaisson, who is lighter and faster than Jones but not as strong at the line of scrimmage.
Reggie Gilliam, Facebook
According to NFL Network, Gilliam agreed to a three-year deal worth between $6 million and $12 million.
What it means: The 6-foot, 244-pound Gilliam is a physical tone setter who should help the running game on offense and special teams. His explosive style of play, and the Patriots identifying with him in free agency, show how the coaching staff has him as a missed asset in 2025.Gilliam will earn $4.4 million in 2026, indicating the Patriots view him as a roster lock over his seven NFL seasons.
Gilliam played 21 percent of Buffalo's offensive snaps last season and 77 percent on special teams. His presence could challenge second baseman Jack Westover to hold the line.
