Naomi Girma was named in the women's national team squad for the next two matches against Italy on Wednesday after returning from a calf injury.

The defender had been sidelined since the start of the season at Chelsea, but recently returned to the starting line-up, playing the first half of the Blues' 6–0 Champions League win over St. Pölten and the second half of the weekend's 1–1 draw with Liverpool.He has not played for the United States since their 3–0 loss to Canada on July 2.

“I'm so happy she's back,” USWNT head coach Emma Hayes said in a conference call with reporters.

The United States will play Italy 28-28 at the Cinadium in Conlado and DEC 1 in Orlando and DEC 1.
