President Donald Trump on Thursday granted pardons to Joe Klecko, Nate Newton, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry and the late Billy Cannon for their crimes.

President Donald Trump thanked five former NFL spoilers Thursday night.

White House pardon czar Alice Marie Johnson announced the pardon on social media.Joe Kleko, Nate Newton, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry and the late Billy Cannon were pardoned.

"As football reminds us, excellence is built on perseverance, grace and the courage to rise again. That includes our nation," Johnson wrote in a post on X.

She added that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared the news "in person" with Newton, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys.

Klecko, a former New York Jets star and Pro Football Hall of Famer, pleaded guilty to perjury when he lied to a federal grand jury that was investigating insurance fraud.

Newton, a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection, pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges after law enforcement found $10,000 in his pickup truck as well as 175 pounds of marijuana in a car driven by another man.

Lewis, who won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens, pleaded guilty to a drug charge after trying to make a drug deal over a cellphone shortly after his former team drafted him with the No. 5 pick in 2000.It was in 2003.Offensive Player of the Year.

Henry, a Pro Bowler who played for three teams in his seven-year NFL career, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic cocaine to finance a drug ring that ran between Colorado and Montana.

Cannon, a star for the Houston Oilers and Oakland Raiders, pleaded guilty to forgery in the mid-1980s.She was the 1959 Heisman Trophy winner at LSU.He was posthumously pardoned when he died in 2018.
