Sunday was a special evening for Jeff Kent, and one for Cooperstown's goalkeeper.
ORLANDO, Fla. – There was much irony surrounding the results of the Modern Baseball Era Committee Hall of Fame voting announced Sunday night at the MLB Winter Meetings.
Perhaps most poignant is this: If not for Barry Bonds, Jeff Kent -- the only one of the eight players being considered for selection Sunday -- might not be Cooperstown bound. While Kent is the all-time leading home run hitter among other players, he was on the same ballot as Bonds - who hit more home runs than anyone at any position.
During the press conference after the announcement, Kent recalled how he could draw, prod and sometimes laugh during his six seasons as the owner of the San Francisco Giants. Those were Kent's best seasons, Deak's streak from 1997 to 2002, where Kent posted 31.6 of 55.4 BWAR.
Crazendo was 2000 when Kent enjoyed his pro season at age 32 hitting .334 with 1,021 op, a 33 Homater hammer with 125 RWAR and a career best 7.2 Bwar contest.
During Kent's six years in San Francisco, he was one of five baseball players to plate at least 2,000 more games than he did.Getting out there, hitting the bases is a great career move.
Obviously, Kent was a great player and the numbers he put up were his and his alone. When you see how the election message engages players, it's a unique thing.I am happy that Jeff Kent is now a Hall of Famer.
But I'm not very happy with the hall of fame itself. While Kent's overwhelming support - he was named with 14 votes out of 16, two more than needed for induction - made me extremely cautious, what surprised me was the voting results. In the fine print, it was told in the official town hall: "Barry Bondi, Roger Clemens, Gary Shemlens and Fernando Valenzuela each received less than five votes."
According to the new guidelines of the committee's process of the era of development in the hall, the instructions included in the guarantee are the ballots, Shamenzuelia in 2028, so it is considered the modern era. They can be shown in 2031, if there is, maybe, maybe. If it does not include at least five votes, then it will be carried out. There is no reason to believe that it will gain more support later.
I thought that the configuration of this board is tied to the connected players, but that is the evaluation of the topic. And who knows what works for those who do.Many players from the 1970s and 1980s in the team, seemed to be well engaged in giving and Dale Murphy. But both of them are listed with only six votes.Carlos Delgado had the second most assists, nine.
Why?You beat the hell out of me.I have given up trying to interpret the goterans/committee programs of the past that have been alive over the years. But the latest guidelines seem to be perfectly designed to ensure that there is no reason to regret cutting and cenmens in the next six years. So in 2031, that's it.
In the meantime, the old era will be canceled in 2027, when the seed is there it will probably close itself.Maybe a stone stain. What is happening is so much, but in the second week of December 2031, we can look at the hall of fame list including the champions and the best pitches.the best
If and when it happens, it will be a kind of symbolic movement: Hall Mayoshi will send the goods that have been reviewed with this law that he has reviewed, and less that should always be always.
Ironic, isn't it?
