Former NFL star Antonio Brown has been arrested, officials said Thursday, ending a more than four-month manhunt for the liquidator accused of opening fire at a crowded event in Miami.

Miami police spokesman Mike Vaga confirmed the incident but declined to comment on where or when the former player was taken into custody.

"Miami Police confirm that United States Marshals have arrested Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the United States," Vega said.

On Thursday night, Miami's police chief said Brown was in custody in Newark, New Jersey, and would be extradited to Miami.

"Let this serve as a clear message: "Anyone who even thinks about committing a crime in Miami, you know this: We will get you."

Brown was wanted in connection with the May 16 shooting outside a boxing event on Miami Haiti Highway where a video surfaced showing a former player turned sniper.

Brown, 37, regularly posts on his social media accounts despite an apparent attempt to avoid arrest.

Last week, he posted an ad for online sports betting site BC Game to his more than 15 million Instagram followers. The video shows Brown in an unknown location behind the wheel of a black Lamborghini.

“Locked up, living well and the VIP energy is different,” he wrote, adding a diamond emoji."Give thanks for love!"

One of the comments appeared to acknowledge the allegations against Brown.

"This term is lmaooooooo," the user wrote.

Brown played parts of 12 seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he once appeared on a Hall of Fame trajectory.

He led the league in receiving yards in 2014 and 2017 and in touchdown catches in 2018. Brown caught a scoring pass in the 2021 Super Bowl.He helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeat the Kansas City Chiefs.

His career ended about 11 months after he took off his jersey and ran into the Metlife Stadium and then-Bucs tight end Bruce Arians.
