Los Angeles - The Chargers received some help on their offensive line on Tuesday due to injuries, trading a 2027 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for Trevor Penning.
Saints 2022 The NFL selected Penning with the 19th overall pick in Northern Iowa. After the 2024 draft, he moved to right tackle. The Saints drafted Taliese Fuaga in the first round, and he started all 17 games at that position. Fuaga moved to right tackle this offseason, and the Saints called up Kelvin Banks Jr. to play left tackle.
That left the 26-year-old Penning with a third straight position change, this time to left guard, where he has started six games with a finger injury after missing the first three games of the season. He is in the final year of his rookie contract.
