Dusty May's tough response after the headline: Take me to the 2027 Final Four in Detroit
Coaches are crazy people.
That's evident in UConn's Dan Hurley, a roving, yelling, head-banging referee, offensive basketball genius and two-time NCAA champion.
For Michigan's Dusty May, it's more subtle.But he is like the devil in his own way.
In an on-field celebration after the Wolverines capped a 37-3 season in May's second career with a national title, the Free Press spoke with the coach for a few questions.
So what is May thinking right now?
"Put us in your mind at this time. What's going on?"Free Press sports writer Tony Garcia asked May, seen in the video at the top of the page, on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
May, who was wearing a new backwards national championship hat, paused in thought for a few seconds, shaking his head from side to side.
"We're 365 days from the Final Four in Detroit, next year's national championship," May replied, her face going from serious to smiling and then smiling.

He's not the only local coach who thinks so.Welcome, Tom Izzo.
"I feel like we have all the pieces we need next year to get to Detroit," Izzo said March 27 after Michigan State lost to UConn in the Sweet 16.
Yes, Detroit will host the 2027 Final Four at Ford Field, home of the NFL's Detroit Lions, just as it did in 2009, when MSU was knocked out by NBA powerhouse North Carolina in the Finals.
Both Michigan and Michigan State are top picks for the upcoming season, with Michigan bringing in the No. 2 recruiting class and MSU's No.3 writing class.

How to get tickets to the 2027 Final Four
Ticket applications for the 2027 Final Four in Detroit are now available through Ticketmaster.The application is for upper level seats, which cost $400 each.
There is also a $25 application fee that is refunded if the applicant is not selected.
Applicants will be notified on 31 October. The deadline for applications is 31 May.
