3 players that make sense in the top 20 for the Cowboys
Players that make sense for the Cowboys with the Green Bay pick.
Now that we know when the Cowboys will pick, we'll look at three players who make sense for the last of the Cowboys' two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Cashius Howell, EDGE, Texas A&M
The Cowboys need to improve their pass rush over the next few months.Texas A and Cassius Howell Ruben Bain Jr.
Howell is a bit on the smaller side, but shows impressive explosiveness, awareness and agility around the corner.Howell is an older prospect and with a lack of size and length, we could see him fall a bit in this year's draft class, but Howell has the production and the upside to be a first-round pick and the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.Borderline period player.
Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson
At the end of the season conference, it was made clear that the focus of our front office will be on improving the linebacker and defensive back this season.
Rookie CB Shawon Revel Jr. struggled a lot in his rookie campaign, and Darran Bland's yet another offseason surgery leaves plenty of questions to be answered over the next few months.Clemson's Aveyon Terrell is an undersized cornerback, but his coverage skills and tenacity in run support are sorely needed by the Cowboys.
Terrell has NFL pedigree, with his brother, A.J., having a lot of success in Atlanta.Terrell has experience playing both inside and outside at Clemson, and his positional flexibility and scheme versatility could be a win for the Cowboys' new defensive coordinator.
Keldric Faulk, EDGE, Auburn
In recent months there has been a lot of talk about Keldric Faulk.Once viewed as a surefire top-10 pick, Faulk's hype has faded a bit late in the season for Auburn, making him an option for the Cowboys at some point in the first round.
Like Howell, Falk was created at the EDGE factory.Falk has perfect size at 6-foot-6, 285-pounds.For his size, Falk is very agile and is expected to test very well.He is similar to Shamar Sever in last year's draft class, where all the attributes are there, but the production has not yet met the attributes of the NFL level.More runs than passes in 2025. Falk has been great defensively, but his pass success rate is above average.A lot of production line pointers will be thrown at Falk over the next few months, but on the 20th, the Cowboys could take a big swing at a top prize if Falk reaches the ceiling of his rookie deal.
